Question: Write the arrangement of cyton and axon in cerebrum....

Write the arrangement of cyton and axon in cerebrum.

Explanation

Solution

Hint: The cerebrum is the front portion of the brain which controls all the voluntary actions of the body.

Complete answer:
The brain consists of three regions- forebrain, midbrain and hindbrain. The cerebrum is the part of the forebrain which covers most of the region of the brain. The cerebrum is considered to be the main thinking part of the brain and it is responsible for controlling all the actions being done voluntarily by the body. There are certain regions in the cerebrum which are specialized for interpretation of the signals carried by the sensory neurons from the sense organs.

There is a deep cleft in the cerebrum which divides it into two halves longitudinally; they are called as left and right cerebral hemispheres. They are connected by layers of certain cells called as cerebral cortex; it is referred to as grey matter as it is greyish in appearance. Another region present towards the inner side of the brain is covered with myelin sheath and it appears white in color, thus called as white matter.
The axon is present on the inner side having whitish appearance and the cyton is present on outer side, as the cyton is covered by cerebral cortex cells due to which grey appearance occurs in the brain whereas in the spinal cord, the myelinated axon is present on the outer side and the cyton is present on inner side so spinal cord appears to be white because axon covered with myelin sheath is present on outer side.

Note: The cerebrum is the part of the forebrain whereas the cerebellum is the part of the hindbrain, which should not be confused with each other.
