Question
Question: Write reaction involved in Lane’s process....
Write reaction involved in Lane’s process.
Solution
Initially you should know that this process (Lane’s Process) is studied under the topic Hydrogen. Now you know it is covered under hydrogen therefore it is easy to guess that this procedure helps in formation of hydrogen.
Complete step by step answer:
This process is used for the production of Dihydrogen. This process is done in two steps namely oxidation stage and the other are reduction stages. Let’s check out both steps.
Oxidation Stage: extremely not steam is passed over the iron filings at a temperature of 1023K-1073K which is mandatory. This is done when hydrogen is formed. Iron (III) oxide stage is obtained from iron during this method.
Chemical reaction involve in the process is:
3Fe+4H2O→Fe3O4+4H2
Reduction stage: In the last step Iron (III) oxide is formed. Now in this step iron (III) oxide is treated with water gas. (Water gas is commonly known as H2). This water gas now reacts with iron (III) oxide and forms metallic iron. This process is popularly known as Vivification.
Chemical reaction involve in the process is:
