The two important botanical gardens of India are described below-
-Lalbagh Botanical Garden, Bangalore:
The area covered by it is 50 hectares. It was started by Hader Ali in 1750. The most important feature of the garden is the large glasshouse where a famous flower annual programme is held. Christmas trees are present. This garden is nationally and internationally very important. Various research projects are going on. Various other plants of French Persian and Afghani origin are also present. This garden is the major tourist Destination. This garden was completed by Tippu Sultan.
-Botanical Garden of Forest Research Institute, Dehradun:
This gardens occupies about 10 hectare in east there are 500-hectares for forest research institutes Started in 1934 with an altitude of 634m. It has played a crucial role in the defining of forest trees, which are economically very important and indigenous flora. This garden possesses no water plants also. It is the first institution for forestry. It is commonly known as FRI Dehradun. These gardens contain six museums actually based on social forestry. It is famous for historical picnic spots, schools and universities.
Note: Botanical gardens are also called ‘botanic gardens’. They contain collections of living plants describing the relation of higher plants . In today's period , most botanical gardens are described primarily with exhibiting ornamental plants.
