Question
Question: Write down the names of various amino acids with their abbreviation code....
Write down the names of various amino acids with their abbreviation code.
Solution
Simple Amino acids contain one anime and one carboxyl functional group, along with a side chain which is specific to each amino acid. These are organic compounds . The essential amino acids are not made in the human body, these are taken through food rich in protein such as meat , eggs ,etc.
Complete step by step answer:
Glycine Gly
Alanine Ala
Valine Val
Leucine Leu
Isoleucine Ile
Phenylalanine Phe
Proline Pro
Methionine Met
Tryptophan Trp
Serine Ser
Cysteine Cys
Asparagine Asn
Threonine Thr
Glutamine Gln
Tyrosine Tyr
Acidic amino acids
Glutamic acid Glu
Aspartic acid Asp
Basic amino acids
Arginine Arg
Lysine Lys
Histidine His
Note: So far, twenty six α-amino acids have been isolated as the hydrolysis products of peptides and proteins. (There are twenty commonly occurring a-amino acids in proteins and six are found in special tissues). Plants are capable to synthesise all the twenty six α-amino acids but our body can synthesise only sixteen of them.
The ten a-amino acids which are indispensable for human beings but are not synthesised in their body and must be provided through diet are known as essential amino acids. Valine, leucine, isoleucine, phenylalanine, methionine, tryptophan, threonine, arginine, lysine and histidine are names of the ten essential a-amino acids.
On the other hand, the sixteen a- amino acids which can be synthesised in our body and hence may not be provided through diet are known as non-essential amino acids. Glycine, alanine, serine, cysteine, asparagine, glutamine, glutamic acid and aspartic acids are some examples of non-essential amino acids.
Since deficiency or absence of essential amino acids in human body can cause diseases such as Kwashiorkor (retard the growth) and may even cause death, so these must be provided in the food.
