Question

Question: Write about digestive juice of enzymes....

Write about digestive juice of enzymes.

Explanation

Solution

Digestive juices contain enzymes which are the substances that speed up chemical reactions in the body, that breaks down food into different nutrients.

Complete answer:
The digestive enzymes secreted by different glands of the digestive system are as follow-
Salivary glands- saliva produced by these glands moisten foods so as it moves more easily through the oesophagus into the stomach. Saliva also contains an enzyme ptyalin that begins to break down starches from food.

Glands in the stomach lining: the glands in the stomach lining produce stomach acid, an enzyme that digests protein. It secretes protease enzymes that helps in initial digestion of proteins.
Pancreas: the pancreas produces a juice containing several enzymes that breaks down carbohydrate’s fats and proteins in food. The pancreas delivers digestive juice to the small intestine through small tubes called ducts. It secretes bicarbonate ions in the duodenum of the small intestine in order to neutralize the stomach acids.
Liver: It produces bile which is responsible for emulsification of fats that is to separate the fat globules to enhance lipase activity. Bile produced by the liver is stored in gallbladder until released.
Small intestine: Digestive juice produced by the small intestine combines with pancreatic juice and bile to complete the digestion. The body completes the breakdown of proteins and final breakdown of starches produces glucose molecules that absorb into the blood. Bacteria in the small intestine produce some of the enzymes needed to digest carbohydrates.

Note: The major type of digestive enzymes are categorized based on the reactions they help catalyze :
• Amylase breaks down starches and carbohydrates into sugars
• protease breaks down proteins into amino acids
• Lipase breaks down lipids, which are fats and oils, into glycerol and fatty acids
