D) 1982

Solution

Wildlife protection acts came into reality right from the time when British ruled India. The last upgradation of this act was done in 2006, 34 years after amendment of the act.

Complete answer:
The Wildlife protection act is an act of the parliament for protection of plants and animal species. This wildlife protection act of India was enacted in the year 1972. Under this act protection is given to plants and animals and some rules are set for their protection too. According to this act hunting or harming plants and animals was considered a crime. In India there was always hunting of animals and cutting of trees so to stop exploitation of plants and animals this act came into the picture. One such example of exploitation is slash and burn cultivation. In slash and burn cultivation, forest is burned and brought to the ashes so that they get a place for crop cultivation. Burning of forests makes animals homeless and there is an increase in pollution. Every time people burn different-different pieces of forest which will lead to disruption of the entire forest ecosystem. Another example is of tigers. India was home to more than 4000 tigers but due to hunting of tigers now we are just left with less than 1500 tigers. Reduction In the number of forests would directly impact climate change and cause global warming.
All this animals and plants are safely protected under sanctuaries (Sanctuary is a place where endangered, abandoned and abused wildlife are allowed to live in peaceful surrounding), national parks (areas set by government to conserve the natural environment), Conservation reserves, etc

Note: The first wildlife protection act was established in 1887 by British people. After India became independent, the first wildlife protection act came in 1960. After which more upgrades were done and finally the wildlife protection act was passed and implemented in 1972.
