Reproduction is a type of biological process with the help of which new organisms are born. The reproduction system is a fundamental feature of the all known life, and each of the individual organisms is continuing their race as the result of the reproduction. Mainly there are two types of reproduction which are sexual and asexual.

The cause of variations is linkage, crossing over and recombination. It helps in combining the genetic material of the two organisms during gametogenesis and fertilization. Like for example ciliate paramecium, fungi, animals, humans, plants, etc.
Importance of reproduction:

Reproduction is important for maintaining balance between birth and death rate.
Reproduction helps in bringing variation which further leads to evolution.
Reproduction helps in continuation of species.
