Question: Why do camels have large feet?...

Why do camels have large feet?

Explanation

Solution

Hint : We know that pressure is defined as the force that is experienced on a surface, per unit area. In mathematical terms we can define the pressure as a force that is exerted divided by the total area over which the force is acting.

Complete step by step answer:
We know that when the area is more the pressure that will be experienced by that area will be less, because the pressure will spread out in the large amount of area. Because of this reason, the camels are known to have large speeds.
For better explanation let us explain the answer with a situation. The camels are required to walk on the sands. Hence, if they had small feet, they would exert larger pressure onto the sand and thus it would make it difficult for them to walk. But since the camels have large feet the area that comes in contact with the sand is very large and so the pressure that is exerted by the feet of the camels onto the sand is very less. This makes it easier for the camels to move around in the sand.

Note: From the relation between pressure and area of contact we can say that pressure exerted on a surface is considered to be inversely proportional to the area of the surface. The more the area, the less is the pressure, similarly the less the area the more is the pressure. The SI unit of pressure is given as Newton per metre square or can be written as N/m2N/{{m}^{2}} .
