Petals are very important for the flowers as they attract different insects which helps in the transfer of pollen grains and results in the pollination of the flowers.

1. Petals are a kind of leaves, they are just modified leaves, leaves are modified into petals which have different shapes and a specific attractive arrangement and the colour of the petals are also very bright and fluorescent.
2. Also petals have a very good smell which is used for different purposes.
3. The petals possess a vibrant colour to attract different insects like bees, mumps, etc, these insects work as a carrier of the pollen grains as they sit on flowers of different flowers.
4. They sit on one flower and carry the pollen grains of that flower and transfer it to the stigma of another flower.
5. In this way they are carriers for the process of pollination and support the cross-pollination, which is very important for the formation of the next generation.
6. Cross-pollination means when pollen grains of one flower transfer from the anther of that flower to the stigma of another flower this is known as cross-pollination.
7. The colour of flowers depends on the genetics of the flower, the genes of that flower and their combination resulted in the different colours of the flowers.
8. The scent of the flower also attracts the insect to come on the flower.
