Linnaeus had done his binomial nomenclature of plants and animal species based on the classification already done by Bauhin. In the honor of Bauhin, the Genus name Bauhinia was given on his name along with his brother Jean Bauhin. In 1623, Gaspard Bauhin had written a book where he classified thousands of plant and animal species named Pinax theatri botanici.
