Question
Biology Question on Cell: the unit of life
Which one of the following preceeds reformation of the nuclear envelope during M phase of the cell cycle
Transcription from chromosomes and reassembly of the nuclear lamina
Formation of the contractile ring and formation of the phragmoplast
Formation of the contractile ring and transcription from chromosomes
Decondensation from chromosomes and reassembly of the nuclear lamina
Formation of the contractile ring and formation of the phragmoplast
Solution
During the M phase, which is also referred to as the mitotic phase and encompasses cell division, the process of re-establishing the nuclear envelope occurs in a stage known as telophase. Specifically, during telophase, the nuclear membrane that had vanished in prophase is reconstructed. However, before this reconstruction takes place, the nucleus undergoes a reorganization process, involving the decondensation of chromosomes and the reassembly of the nuclear lamina.
