Calcium is an essential macronutrient for plant growth. Macronutrients are essential elements which are required by plants in quantity more than 1 mg/g dry matter. It is used as a calcium pectinate for the formation of middle lamella in cell wall for lipid metabolism, for cell division and cell enlargement, helps in translocation of carbohydrates and also activates enzyme activity in plants. All other like Zn, Cu and Mn are micronutrients of plants.
