Zoospores of Chlamydomonas are haploid.
Sporangiospores borne in the sporangium of Rhizopus are diploid structures
Solution
In Rhizopus, plant body is haploid and it is the dominant phase in its life cycle. The plant body is mycelial, coenocytic and branched. Three types of hypae are seen in Rhizopus: stoloniferous hypae, rhizoidal hyphae and sporangiophores. Sporangiophores are erect, aerial and unbranched hyphae which grow upwards in tufts (3-5) from the stolons. They bear terminal sporangia and so are reproductive in function. They bear multinucleate non-motile spores, called sporangiospores, which are haploid in nature and under favourable conditions give rise to new plants.
