Question
Biology Question on recombinant technology
Which of the following terms is not concerned with genetic recombination in bacteria ?
Transformation
Transduction
Translation
Conjugation
Translation
Solution
Recombination is the process by which a recombinant chromosome is formed from two different parental cells. Three processes that lead to the formation of recombinant chromosomes are known to occur in bacteria. Transformation is the transfer of genetic information through the agency of free DNA. Transduction is the transfer of a portion of the DNA from one bacterium or makes physical contact with a female or recipient bacterium and transforms genetic elements into it. Conjugation is a form of reproduction in bacteria in which genetic material from one cell passes through the tube to unite with that in other cell. Translation is not concerned with the bacterial genetic recombination. It is a step in protein synthesis.
