Women have a risk of becoming infertile due to this infection. A pregnant woman can in turn infect the fetus. Chlamydia can also cause ectopic pregnancy in women. It is the most common sexually transmitted disease.
Neisseria gonorrhoeae causes gonorrhoea in both men and women. Its symptoms are similar to that of chlamydia. In women, it also causes vaginal bleeding as well. This disease also affects the rectum. There could be symptoms like anal itching, discharge, difficult bowel movement, bleeding, etc.
Herpes is caused by herpes simplex virus. HSV- causes oral herpes (cold sores). It may also cause genital herpes, however, that is not common. HSV- causes genital herpes which is sexually transmitted. The most distinct sign of herpes is the formation of painful blisters. An infected person may also experience body ache and fever.
AIDS is short for acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. The causal organism is a virus called the human immunodeficiency virus. The virus after infecting the body remains dormant for a really long time. When it starts showing signs and symptoms, it is more influenza-like. Apart from that, the person may suffer drastic weight loss diarrhoea, cough, weakened immune system, etc.
