Diabetes mellitus
Explanation
Solution
Diabetes mellitus is a non-communicable disease. It exists in two forms; insulin dependent and noninsulin-dependent. The insulin-dependent form is caused by a failure of the P - cells to produce adequate amounts of insulin; the non-insulin dependent form appears to involve failure of insulin to facilitate the movement of glucose into cells. In both disorders the blood glucose concentration is elevated above the normal range.
