Hyperacidity is a kind of disease which is very common. It is caused due to the imbalance release of the acid inside the stomach. Therefore, when the amount of acid released is in excess and cannot be neutralised completely, then it causes acidity. There are various symptoms of acidity and some medicines to get relief from it.

Hyperacidity is caused due to the imbalance release of the hydrochloric acid in the stomach by the walls of the stomach to help in digestion. But when this amount of acid is in excess, then it causes acidity.
Therefore, it causes many symptoms like heart and chest burn, vomiting, irritation, chest pain, headache, indigestion and many more. It can sometimes cause ulcers also.
Now, we know that acidity is caused by the excess of acid in the stomach so it can be only cured if we intake some amount of base in our body. This is because we know that base is chemically opposite of acid and neutralise it to produce a neutral salt and water.

The medicines or substances which contain base in it are known as antacids.
So, we can say that antacids (like sodium hydrogen carbonate, calcium hydroxide) are used to get relief from hyperacidity.

Antacids can cure acidity very fast but have some side-effects such as they can cause diarrhoea, constipation, flatulence, vomiting, stomach cramp and many more. So it should not be taken in excess and to naturally cure acidity one should avoid heavy, spicy, salty, oily and sour food.
