What is the mixture of calcium aluminate and calcium silicate called?
Solution
Hint : To answer this question we should have a basic knowledge of the chemical compound given to us that is calcium aluminate and calcium silicate. We have to know all about their structure most importantly, their properties, etc. Complete detailed solution of this question is given in the below section.
Complete Step By Step Answer:
When we mix calcium aluminate and calcium silicate, a fine grey powder is formed and that powder is known as cement. We all know where we use cement in our life. It is very important material provided to us. It is like a binding substance and we use it in making houses or in the construction of buildings. The other name of this cement is Portland cement. The main ingredients in this Portland cement are di-calcium silicate (Ca2SiO4) present as 26% of all the ingredients, tricalcium silicate (Ca3SiO5) present as the major ingredient in this cement which comprises of 51% off the total ingredients, and last is tricalcium aluminate (Ca3Al2O6) present in the least quantity in this cement comprises only 11% of the total ingredients. The most important raw materials required in the production of cement are limestone, clay, and marl.
Note :
When we mix cement with fine aggregate, it produces mortar for masonry and when it is mixed with sand and gravel, it produces concrete. Concrete is the second most consumed resource on the planet. First is the water. There are two types of cement and these are hydraulic cements and non-hydraulic cement.
