Question
Question: What is the difference between Breath and Breathe?...
What is the difference between Breath and Breathe?
Solution
At first, we need to know what is breathing. In Biology, breathing (also called ventilation) is the process of moving air in and out in the lungs. It allows our alveolus to perform a gaseous exchange that is called Respiration. In this process we inhale Oxygen from the air and exhale Carbon dioxide in the air.
Complete Answer :
No. | Breath | Breathe |
---|---|---|
1. | 'Breath' is a noun. | 'Breathe' is a verb. |
2. | 'Breath' is the air that we breathe out during exhalation. | It is the act of inhaling and exhaling environmental air. |
4. | Breath is the air that holds the oxygen and carbon dioxide during the respiration process. | Breathe refers to a biological process through which the respiration process gets the air that holds oxygen and discharges the carbon dioxide into that air. |
3. | Example - "Catch my breath". | Example - "We breathe air". |
Additional Information :
Breathing takes place between the external environment and the calls of the body. It is a mechanical process that is also named as Pulmonary Respiration. The human and some animals have lungs as their main respiratory organ.
The process of breathing consists of two steps-
1. Inspiration - It is also called Inhalation. Taking atmospheric air into the lungs is called inspiration. It happens depending on the air pressure in the lungs, more precisely when the air pressure in the lungs is lesser than the atmospheric air pressure, inhalation occurs.
2. Expiration – It is also called Exhalation. This is the process of discharging air from the lungs to the environment. It happens when the air pressure in the lungs increases and the atmospheric air pressure is lesser than the air pressure inside the lungs, the lungs release the air in the environment.
Note :
Breathing and Respiration are interrelated but totally different biological processes. Both of them assist the body organs to perform properly. Breathing is the process of gaseous exchange while respiration is a chemical process that takes place at a cellular level. Respiration produces energy.
