The addition polymerisation of ethene with hydrocarbon solvent in the presence of triethylaluminum and Ziegler Natta catalyst ( Titanium tetrachloride right) at a temperature of 333 K to 343 K under the pressure of 6 - 7 atm results in the formation of High Density Polyethylene or HDPE. HDPE thus consists of linear molecules and has a high density because of close packing. It is chemically inert and hard in nature and is used in making buckets, pipes, bottles, dustbins etc.
