Polyester: It is a type of polymer which contains ester functional groups as the repeating chemical unit. The monomers of polyester are Terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol. There is a wide range of use of synthetic polymers in clothing.
Polyester is a type of thermoplastic polymer i.e., they can be heated or cooled several times without any major changes in their chemical properties. These can be moulded at a certain temperature and its solidification takes place on cooling.
Properties of polyester are as follows:
The polyester fibres are tough or stronger than nylon fibres.
The fabric of polyester is highly stain resistant.
They have excellent tensile strength i.e., it can be stretched to a greater extent without breaking its bonds.
They have an excellent wrinkle resistance property i.e., the fibre of polyester resists external force and holds its shape.
The polyester fabric is less flame resistant and burns slowly and gets melted when ignited.
Poly-wool: Polyesters are spun together with a natural fibre to form a cloth with blended properties. Hence, poly wool is a blend of a natural fibre i.e., wool and a synthetic fibre i.e., polyester.

Note:
The main reason to blend polyester with wool is that the polyester makes the wool fabric stronger and lasts longer than the original fabric. The blended fabric gets a better look and texture and hence it is in high demand in the cloth industry.
