Anything which is harmful for our environment is known as pollution. Substances which cause pollution are known by the name pollutants. There are many different types of pollution which are either caused by natural events or by man-made activities and can further be classified into the following types of pollution:
Air pollution: Any unwanted particles when mixed with air causes air pollution and it has many adverse effects for environmental health and to our health too. Causes which cause air pollution are burning of fossil fuels, release of toxic gases from industries and factories and mining operations etc.
Water pollution: When waste from industries gets mixed with water it causes water pollution and polluted water is a curse for aquatic animals and for human beings too. This pollution is also caused by human beings by improper sewage treatment and oil spills.
Soil pollution: Soil pollution generally refers to the degradation of land due to the presence of chemicals or other man-made substances in the soil. Due to this soil loses its fertility.
