What is Natural sugar?

Explanation

Solution

The sugar can be termed as sweetener , which sweetens the given food or compound . Sugar can be broadly classified into Natural Sugar and Artificial Sugar. Sucrose and Fructose are the most used natural sugars or sweeteners .

Complete answer:
Sugar is generally a name of the agent which helps in making sweet taste and mostly of them are the carbohydrates which are soluble in water. So we can classify sugar on the number of carbon atoms present in it. They may be classified as :
(1.)\left( {1.} \right) Monosaccharide – Simple sugars. They include glucose , fructose and galactose.
(2.)\left( {2.} \right) Disaccharides – Joining two monosaccharide. They include sucrose , lactose and maltose.
(3.)\left( {3.} \right) Oligosaccharides – Long chain of monosaccharides form this. They include starch.
Fructose is basically found in fruit. This sugar is responsible for the taste in food. The sugars that occur naturally are hence called as natural sugars. It may include fructose present in apples or it can be a lactose present in milk. Also honey , dates , coconut sugar all are natural sugars.
Natural Sugars foods contain essential nutrients that keep the body healthy and prevent disease. The sources which contain natural sugars need more time for digestion as compared to artificial sugars.
The chemical formula for fructose is L - {\text{L - }} C6H12O6{C_6}{H_{12}}{O_6} . It has a lower melting point as compared to other sugars.

Note:
Fructose has two configurations . It is D - D{\text{ - }} Fructose and L - {\text{L - }} Fructose. It is Dextrorotatory and Levorotatory Fructose. Pure fructose has a sweet taste similar to that of cane sugar and it has a fruity fragrance. It is also called fruit sugar.
