Importance of wildlife:
- They play a necessary role to maintain a healthy and consistent food web which leads to a balanced ecosystem.
- Wildlife is a big source of gene pool and helps in conservation of species of a particular region.
- Wild variety of plants are necessary for several human needs as well, such as drugs, medicines etc.

The Wild Life Protection Act, 1972 is an Act of the Parliament of India enacted for protection of plants and animal species, which was amended in the year 2008. According to this act poaching, hunting or harvesting of the listed species is strictly outlawed.
An area where animals and their surroundings are under protection and stay safe from any sort of disturbance. These areas are prohibited, in killing and poaching of animals . The species are kept in the condition of their natural habitat and poaching and killing is a punishable offence.
