Question: What is heat in chemistry?...

What is heat in chemistry?

Explanation

Solution

In the field of chemistry, there is a branch dedicated to the study of heat and energy related phenomena and transfer and storage of the same, which is termed as thermodynamics.
The heat is an essential form of energy which is used for various purposes like transporting, cooking, ironing, recreation etc.

Complete step-by-step answer: According to the field of chemistry the term heat represents one of the most essential forms of energy which is important for the survival of the species on earth. Heat can be defined as the increase of the temperature causing the constituent molecules to vibrate at a faster rate, which gets transferred from one physical body to another, or one part of the considered body to another. Heat is the measure of that energy being transferred and stored in another object.
Another definition of heat could be, the flow of energy from the warm objects to the cooler ones. The flow of heat or this energy is generally from the object of higher temperature to the object having lower temperature. This results from the vibration difference present between the constituent molecules, as the molecules having higher vibration would transfer their energy to the molecules of the object which has the lower energy vibrating particles. This vibrational energy which we are talking about can also be termed as the heat content of the body. With the increase of heat content of a body, the heat of the body also increases or the object becomes hotter.
It is possible for a substance to absorb heat from the surrounding without the increase of the temperature by simply changing the state of the object from one physical state to another, in other words the change in physical state of an object may result from heat absorption.

Note: The heat of an object is the measurement warmth possessed by it, and it could change from higher to lower as it could be transferred from one object to another.
The heat of an object could be changed with the change in temperature, or by change of the physical state of the object.
