Desertification is when once fertile land turns into desert due to wrong farming, cutting trees, and lack of rain. This harms the land and makes it dry. In Tamil Nadu, areas like Theni, Nilgiris, and Kanyakumari are affected. Theni and Rajapalayam have around 12,000 hectares (120 sq. km) of land harmed by sand in them.
