1. Carbohydrate: these are also called as energy giving food these are required in large quantities. About 65%$ of energy is derived from carbohydrates, as these are easily convertible. Carbohydrates are mostly stored in the form of glucose. For the functioning of the brain, kidneys, central nervous system and muscles carbohydrates are needed. They are found in beans nuts, seed etc
2. Protein: these are also called body building food. These are needed for growth especially in teens and pregnant women also they help in making the immune system strong.
3. Fats: these are energy giving food also they assist in supporting cell growth, keeps cholesterol and blood pressure under control, and helps our body absorb vital nutrients.
4. Fibers: these are undigested carbohydrates. The main role of fibre is to keep the digestive system healthy
5. Water: most processes require water, in sweating or in body fluid as tears, digestive juice etc.
6. Vitamins: these are required in small quantities but are very necessary for growth and development. Deficiency of vitamins can lead to deficiency symptoms. These include vitamin A, B, C, D, E, K.
7. Minerals: calcium in building bones and teeth, iron for haemoglobin, iodine for normal functioning of body etc is required.
