Question: What are the disadvantages of nuclear energy?...

What are the disadvantages of nuclear energy?

Explanation

Solution

We may include production of nuclear energy from nuclear reactors and the radiation which is used for the production. The impact of nuclear energy on the ecosystem . A lot of manpower is required to set up such nuclear power stations which can produce nuclear energy.

Complete answer:
There are a large number of disadvantages of nuclear energy. Some of them are mentioned below:
1. Nuclear energy is a non-renewable energy source. It cannot be regenerated again after its use.
2. Radioactive material like uranium is used. Radioactive elements produce harmful radiation. Thus it also produces radioactive waste which is very harmful to the ecosystem.
3. Its production produces waste which also causes eutrophication which leads to the death of aquatic life of the rivers and oceans. This causes ecological imbalance in nature.
4. Nuclear power plants require a large amount of workforce and hence there are concerns regarding their health issues because of the radiations coming from raw material of the nuclear reactor .
5. Indeed the byproducts of nuclear energy are not CO2C{O_2} like other fossil fuels but it has an impact on the environment .Mining and water discharge causes great harm to marine life and humankind too.
Thus the use of nuclear energy is hazardous to humans especially at times of industrial accidents.

Note:
Nuclear energy has disadvantages but parallel it has some advantages too. It has much more energy than our fossil fuels but this massive energy of nuclear fuels becomes disastrous when they are used against mankind like in Hiroshima –Nagasaki attacks. Depending on its use it can be very dangerous to us.
