Sun has dark spots known as sunspots; these are small areas which appear a little bit darker in colour than the sun. It’s a temporary phenomenon and it happens because of the concentration of the magnetic field flux and convection takes place. By studying the sunspots we also gain knowledge about the weather of the sun and the ionosphere.

Note: The temperature of the sun is very high but some areas have temperature less than the temperature of the sun due to the concentration of magnetic field flux. The life of these sunspots varies from few weeks to few months.
