Question: What are some examples of the fight-or-flight response?...

What are some examples of the fight-or-flight response?

Explanation

Solution

The hormones secreted by the adrenal glands are called the adrenaline or epinephrine hormone. They are released through the medulla of the adrenal glands and are similar to norepinephrine except for the presence of methyl groups in the side chain.

Complete solution:
Adrenaline hormone is commonly known as an emergency hormone or triple F hormone (FFF- Fight, Fright, Flight). The medulla of the adrenal glands produces this hormone in the neurons of the central nervous system. During a stressful situation, these hormones are released quickly into the blood which sends the impulse to the body organs to make a particular response. The impact of adrenaline which releases in our body are as follows:
Adrenaline triggers the body's fight-or-flight response. Because of this, the body sends the impulse to either fight or flight.
Due to its reaction, the oxygen is supplied to various muscles which dilate the air passage.
The blood vessels dilate and contract due to its reaction resulting in the flow of blood into the various body tissues and organs.
This will result in the loss of feeling of pain in the body.
Blood vessels will enlarge or dilate in our muscles while they will contract in the alimentary canal of our body to slow the process of digestion.
More renin will be produced by the kidney which will increase the blood pressure.
For the production of energy, the production of glucose will be increased.
The adrenaline’s effect after its functioning will remain for an hour and this subsides.
The fight-or-flight response will make the humans freeze when coming in contact with the danger or in front of an animal.

Note:
The human being has two adrenal glands, out of which the right gland is pyramidal in shape and the left gland is semilunar in shape and also the left adrenal gland is usually comparatively larger than the right adrenal gland.
