Question
Question: What are adipose tissues involved in?...
What are adipose tissues involved in?
Solution
Tissue is an organisational level between a cell and an organ. By the grouping of multiple tissues it forms an organ.
Complete answer:
A group of similar cells from the same origin performing the same function is known as tissue. A group of similar multiple tissues forms an organ. Study of animal or plant tissues is known as histology.
In plants the tissues are divided into three groups :
1. Epidermis: the outer surface of leaves and young plants are made up of this tissue,
2. Vascular tissues: xylem and phloem are the primary vascular tissues which transport water and nutrients internally,
3. Ground tissues : These tissues are less differentiated by other tissues.
The animal tissues are divided into four major types which are:
1. Epithelial tissues: the cells of these tissues cover the outer surface of organs like the skin surface, reproductive tract, digestive tract, etc.
2. Connective tissues: these are the fibrous tissues made up of cells separated by non living materials. They give the shape and structure to the organs. They are of two types : loose and rigid.
3. Muscular tissues: these are the contractile tissues of the muscle. They are capable of production of force which helps in locomotion.
4. Neural tissues: these cells comprise the central and peripheral neural system. The central nervous system consists of the brain and spinal cord while the peripheral nervous system consists of all the nerves arising from the brain and spinal cord.
Adipose tissues consist of loose connective tissues made up of adipocytes. There are two types of adipose tissues:
1. White adipose tissue: main function of this tissue is to store energy in form of lipids,
2. Brown adipose tissue: they are mostly found in newborn babies and their main function is to provide heat to the body.
Note:
Tissue is defined as a group of similar cells performing similar functions. Main function of Adipose tissues is to store energy in the form of fats or lipids. They also provide cushion and insulate the body.
