We do not clean ponds or lakes but an aquarium needs to be cleaned. Why?

Complete step by step answer: As we know that the ponds or lakes have water in a very large amount and it is still water mostly. The pond or lake habitat has so many varieties of organisms living who can decompose the dirt and waste within the medium. The ponds or lakes are natural as compared to the aquarium as it contains soil, plants, aquatic animals, etc. The ponds or lakes can become large and small according to the atmosphere and environment of its surrounding. Whereas, in the aquarium, there is no soil present as it is in natural mediums like ponds or lakes. The uneaten food or the waste by organisms like fishes, turtles, etc. are present in the aquarium for days, if not cleaned on time, the waste gets mixed with the water and stays there untreated as the aquarium does not have any decomposers. The waste products thus accumulate or settle in the water for days and months and become toxic for the lives living in the aquarium. Hence, the aquarium needs to be cleaned on a regular basis.

Note: Ponds can be either natural or artificial. It is smaller when compared to a lake. It may arise naturally in floodplains as part of a river system, or be a somewhat isolated depression. Lakes are much deeper than ponds and have a large surface area.
