Using properties of sets show that (i) A(AB)=AA ∪ (A ∩ B) = A ** (ii)** A(AB)=A.A ∩ (A ∪ B) = A.

Answer

(i) To show: A(AB)=AA ∪ (A ∩ B) = A
We know that
AAA ⊂ A
ABAA ∩ B ⊂ A
A(AB)A(1)∴ A ∪ (A ∩ B) ⊂ A … (1)
Also, AA(AB)(2)A ⊂ A ∪ (A ∩ B) … (2)
∴ From (1) and (2) ,A(AB)=AA ∪ (A ∩ B) = A


(ii) To show: A(AB)=AA ∩ (A ∪ B) = A
A(AB)=(AA)(AB)A ∩ (A ∪ B) = (A ∩ A) ∪ (A ∩ B)
=A(AB)= A ∪ (A ∩ B)
