Two resistors of resistances R1=100±3 ohm and R2=200±4 ohm are connected (a) in series, (b) in parallel. Find the equivalent resistance of the (a) series combination, (b) parallel combination. Use for (a) the relation R=R1+R2 and for (b) R′1=R11+R21 and R′2ΔR′=R12ΔR1+R22ΔR2

(a)We know that if we need to find the equivalent resistance for two or more resistors in series then,
Reqs=R1+R2
Therefore,
Reqs=(100±3)+(200±4)Ω
Reqs=(300±7)Ω, this is the equivalent resistance for the two resistors in series.
(b) We know that for two or more resistance connected parallel to each other then the equivalent resistance is,
Reqp=R1+R2R1R2 ,
Reqp=100+200100×200,
Reqp=3200,
Reqp=66.7Ω, this is the equivalent resistance when the two resistors are connected in parallel.
Now taking the second equation,
R′2ΔR′=R12ΔR1+R22ΔR2,
On simplifying this equation,
ΔR′=R′2(R12ΔR1+R22ΔR2)
