Answer
both (a) and (b)
Explanation
Solution
After fertilization, the ovary matures and develops into fruit. The wall of the ovary give rise to the fruit wall, also known as Pericarp. Seed develops from the ovules. The fruit that develops from the ovary is called ‘true fruit’. Pseudocarp or false fruit is the fruit that develops from other floral parts except ovary.
The pericarp can be fleshy or dry. A thick and fleshy pericarp can be differentiated into three layers -
- Epicarp (outer covering)
- Mesocarp (middle layer)
- Endocarp (inner layer)
Sometimes, seedless fruits forms withoutfertilization. Such fruits are called parthenocarpic fruits.
