Question
Chemistry Question on Some basic concepts of chemistry
The reactant which is present in larger amount limits the amount of product formed is called limiting reagent Amount of product formed does not depend upon the amount of reactants taken
If both assertion and reason are true and reason is the correct explanation of assertion
If both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of assertion
If assertion is true but reason is false.
If both assertion and reason are false
If both assertion and reason are false
Solution
The reactant which is present in lesser amount gets consumed after sometime and after that no further reaction takes place whatever be the amount of the other reactant present. Hence, the reactant which gets consumed, limits the amount of product formed and is, therefore, called the limiting reagent.
