The principle of vaccination is to produce immunity against a disease. Explain.

Explanation

Solution

Vaccine is the introduction of antigens in the body of a living body to provide resistance power or to provide strength to oppose the disease causing organisms that can cause disease when entered into the body.

Complete answer:
The ability or strength of a living organism to fight against the disease causing germs or to resist the disease is called the immune e power or resistance power of a living organism.

The resistance power gives the ability to fight against disease. The more the immune power or resistance power of a person, the healthier a person is because vaccines provide the body with the antigen. The antigens stimulate the antibodies formation. Antibodies are the proteins that are Y-shaped structures that act as a ‘lock and key’ mechanism with the foreign particles. When foreign particles enter the body of living organisms, it alters the functioning of the body of living organisms and can cause discomfort or disease. The process of introduction of artificially synthesized antibodies in the body of a living being is called vaccination. Vaccination iritides the formation of antibodies when introduced in the body of a living organism. These antibodies give the organism's ability to fight against disease. Vaccination is given prior to the disease so that antibodies can attack prior to the formation of disease so that antibodies wherever attacked by foreign or disease causing microorganisms.

Vaccine is introduced artificially and is not present from the time of birth and so is a category of ‘acquired’ immune system.

Thus, the principle of vaccination is to produce immunity against a disease.

Note: The development and introduction of the first vaccine took place is the year 1796 by Edward Jenner. Edward Jenner collected the pus or blister from a person affected with cowpox and introduced it in[to the body of a 13 year old boy that provided resistance to fight against smallpox. In this way, the first vaccine was introduced.
