The most striking difference between tropical rain forest and the temperate forest is
that
A. The tropical rain forests have a preponderance of angiosperms while the temperate one has a
preponderance of gymnosperms.
B. The trees of temperate forests are taller than those of tropical rain forests.
C. Plants of temperate forests are comparatively more mesophytic.
D. All of the above
Solution
Both these tropical and temperate rainforests are considered as the majors on the planet earth. There are many differences between these two biomes, one based on their location- the tropical rainforests are located near the equator between both the tropics I.e. Cancer and Capricorn
while temperate rainforest is located to the north of the Tropic of Cancer and the south of Tropic of
Cancer. Tropical rainforests are warm where rain all year long and temperate are cooler comparatively.
Step by step answer: Option -A- The tropical rain forests have a preponderance of angiosperms while the temperate one has a preponderance of gymnosperms. In tropical rainforests, the most plants found are angiosperms i.e. they are home to two-thirds of flowering plants on this planet. These filtering plants are called angiosperms because of temperature range and annual rainfall while in temperate
rainforests they are mostly house to the gymnosperms I.e. their seeds are naked.
Option -B- The trees of temperate forests are taller than those of tropical rain forests because most of the tropical and temperate forests are almost the same. Their height of most of the trees is recorded as up to 25 meters.
Option -C- Plants of temperate forests are comparatively more mesophytic. Plants of temperate forests are mixed mesophytic. Mesophytic are those which are neither adapted to very particular dry nor wet
environments. Temperate plants are adapted to mostly moist, cold conditions.
So, the correct answer to this question is option ”A” The tropical rainforest have a preponderance of
angiosperms while temperate rainforests have a preponderance of gymnosperms.
Note: These forests are the largest oxygen-producing forests on this planet earth. Besides the
differences between these two, they have many similarities among them first being they are very big
biomes and both are endangered biomes.
