Global warming is a result of climate change causing a long-term rise of the planet's temperatures. It is caused by increased concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, which arises mainly from human activities, for example burning fossil fuels, deforestation and farming etc. This long term rise in temperature affects the polar and the mountain region of earth, as a result of which it leads to melting down of glaciers and due to which the ecological system of earth’s gets affected. Gangotri belongs to the Himalayan region of India and this is also affected because of the reason discussed above.
