From the diagram we know that vector a can be written as sum of vector c and vector PR
a=c+PR
Vector b can be written as the sum of vector c and vector RQ
b=c+RQ

Adding vectorsa and b using the equations formed
a+b=c+PR+c+RQ
∵PR=−RQ
