Question
Mathematics Question on coordinates of a point in space
The coordinates of the circumcentre of the triangle with vertices (2,3),(4,−1) and (4,3) are
A
(2, 3)
B
(1, 3)
C
(3, 1)
D
(3, 2)
Answer
(3, 1)
Explanation
Solution
Coordinates of A, B, Care (2, 3) (4, -1), (4, 3). respectively.
Slope m1 of BC is 4−43−(−1)=∞
Slope m2 of AC is 4−23−3=0
∴ΔABC is right angled at C (4, 3)
∴ Circumcentre of ΔABC is the mid-point of the hypotenuse AB which is
(24+2,23−1) i.e.., (3,1)
