Question
Biology Question on The Tissue System
The commonly found tissue in pulp of fruits like guava and in leaves of tea are
A
collenchyma
B
aerenchyama
C
chlorenchyma
D
sclereids
Answer
sclereids
Explanation
Solution
Sclereids are highly thickened, dead sclerenchyma cells with very narrow cavities. Sclereids are broader as compared to the fibres being isodiametric polyhedral, spherical, oval, short or cylindrical in shape. Being elongated, pits of sclereids are also known as pit canals. Stone cells or brachysclereids (isodiametric cells) are found in grit of guava. In tea leaves, astrosclereids (branched like star) can be seen.
