The alignment of kidney are
A. At the level of ovaries
B. At the same level
C. Left kidney at a higher level than the right one
D. Right kidney at a higher level than the left one

Explanation

Solution

Kidneys are the most important organs which involve the filtration of excess water and harmful toxins from the blood. In the animal kingdom, kidneys are found in most vertebrates and which perform the same function. But they have a huge difference in structure and the way they perform their function.

Complete answer:
Kidneys are the most vital organs of the human body. It is also present in the other vertebrate. The kidneys are the main excretory organs which are mainly associated with the excretion of urea in the form of urine. The feedback mechanisms which involve the hypothalamus, juxtaglomerular apparatus (JGA) and the heart monitor and regulate the function of the human kidneys.
The kidneys look like bean-shaped. These paired organs are reddish-brown in hue. The kidneys are concave on one long side and convex on the opposite. Generally, kidneys are located high in the abdominal cavity and against its back wall. These organs are lying on either side of the vertebral column which is found between the levels of the 12th thoracic and third lumbar vertebrae, and outside the peritoneum, the membrane that lines the abdomen.
The long axis of the kidneys are aligned with that of the body. The upper end of each kidney also known as the pole is slightly oblique toward the backbone i.e. vertebral column. These are situated in the middle of the medial concave and bordered by a deep vertical cleft called the hilus. This leads to a cavity within the kidney known as the renal sinus. The hilus is the point where the renal arteries and veins, lymphatic vessels, nerves enter into the kidney and exit from there.
Two kidneys of a human being lie at different levels. Among the two kidneys, the left kidney is located slightly higher than the right kidney. This occurs as the size of the liver on the right side of the body is larger.

Therefore, the correct option for the question is option C.

Note: The kidneys are the main organs of the renal system which are reddish-brown in colour and bean-shaped paired organs present in most vertebrates. In humans, the kidneys are located high in the abdominal cavity on each side of the backbone and these lie at a slightly oblique angle. Both kidneys do not lie in the same position. Due to the position of the liver, the right kidney lies slightly lower than the left while the left kidney lies higher than the right.
