Ribosomes are submicroscopic naked granular nucleoprotein organelles which were first seen by Claude $(1941)$ but first studied by Robinson and Brown $(1953)$ in bean root cells and Palade $(1955)$ in animal cells. Ribosomes occur in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes. In prokaryotes, $70S$ type ribosomes are found and they are divided into $2$ subunits, ie, the larger $50S$ subunit and smaller $30S$ subunit. In eukaryotes $80S$ type ribosomes are found. They are divided into $2$ subunits, the larger $60S$ and smaller $40S$.
