Question
Biology Question on Amphibolic Pathway
Separation of amino acid & carboxylic groups is called
A
deamination
B
excretion
C
egestion
D
transamination
Answer
deamination
Explanation
Solution
Deamination is the removal of amino group from the amino acid in presence of either oxidative or hydrolytic enzyme. Removal of amino group converts amino acid into keto acids. Transamination is the reversible exchange of amino groups between different amino acids. During this process donor amino acid thus becomes a keto acids & the recipient keto acid becomes an amino acids. Egestion is the casting out of undigestible materials which has never been inside body cells. Excretion is the elimination of waste products (produced during metabolism) from the body of an organisms.
