Question
Biology Question on Human Excretory System
Reabsorption of chloride ions (Cl) occurs in which part of the kidney?
A
Proximal convoluted tubule
B
Ascending limb of Henle?s loop
C
Collecting duct
D
Distal convoluted tubule
Answer
Distal convoluted tubule
Explanation
Solution
From the Bowman?s capsule, the glomerular filtrate passes on to the convoluted tubule and flows through it to the collecting duct. During this course, its composition, osmotic pressure and pH change due to selective reabsorption of materials from it and secretion of more waste materials into it. The process is called tubular reasbsorption. Reabsorption of Cl ions occurs at DCT.
