Parts A, B, C and D of the human eye are shown in the diagram. Select the option which gives correct identification along with its function or characteristics.
A- Retina – contains photoreceptors -rods and cones
B- Blind spot- has only a few rods and Cones
C- Aqueous chamber- reflects the light which does not pass through the lens.
D- All of the above
Solution
Human eye is a major part of the body and it is a sensory organ. They are important as they help in the major functioning of the body. Eyes have rods and cones which distinguish between colors. Humans are able to see objects when a ray of light gets on the retina of the eye and the reflection of the image is created in the retina. Then we are able to see and identify objects.
Complete answer:
Option A: A- Retina – contains photoreceptors -rods and cones- retina of eye resides at the back of the eye. Near the optical nerve. The function of the retina is to convert the light into neuron signals and these signals will find their way to the brain and images will be created. two types of photoreceptors in the eye are rods and cones. Rods allow the eye to see objects in the dim light. And cones serve the purpose of identifying colors in the eye.
Option A is the correct answer.
Option B: B- Blind spot- has only a few rods and Cones- Blind spot is a spot in the eye where no photoreceptors are present. That is, no rods and cones are present. Hence there is no object formation in the blind spot.
Option B is not the correct answer.
Option C: C- Aqueous chamber- reflects the light which does not pass through the lens- aqueous chamber plays a vital role in the maintenance of eye health. It provides the intraocular pressure in the eye and also moisture in the eye.
Option C is not the correct answer.
Option D: All of the above- this option is not correct as only one of the options is correct, not all the options.
Option D is not the correct answer.
Therefore, Option A is the correct answer.
Note:
As we discussed how important our eyes are to us, some defects are there of eyes such as myopia and hypermetropia and cataract. Myopia is the defect of longer vision in eyes where a person cannot see beyond 25cm. Hypermetropia is the defect of shorter vision in eyes, where a person cannot see in 25cm perimeter and cataract are the eye defect where there is a thin layer covering the iris.
