Oxysomes of F0 - Fj particles occur on
A
thylakoids
B
mitochondrial surface
C
inner mitochondrial membrane
D
chloroplast surface.
Answer
inner mitochondrial membrane
Explanation
Solution
Oxysomes of F0 - F, particles occurs on inner mitochondrial membrane. Each particle is made up of base, stalk and head and is about 10 mm in length. The number of oxysomes per mitochondrion varies from 104 - 105. Chemically these are made up of phospholipid core and protein cortex. Oxysomes have ATP as enzyme molecules and therefore, responsible for ATP synthesis. These elementary particles are also called F0 - Fj particles by some workers. The base of these is called F0 subunit and head is called F, subunit.
