Question
Biology Question on Population Explosion
One of the following causes population explosion :
Decrease in death rate and increase in maternal mortality rate
Decrease in infant mortality rate and decrease in the number of people in reproductive age
Decrease in death rate, maternal mortality rate and infant mortality rate
Decrease in infant mortality rate and increase in death rate
Decrease in death rate, maternal mortality rate and infant mortality rate
Solution
Death rate is defined as the number of deaths per 1,000 individuals in a population per year. It decreases population size and population density. Maternal mortality rate is the rate of maternal deaths. Maternal death is the death of a woman while pregnant or within 42 days of termination of pregnancy, irrespective of the duration of pregnancy, from any cause related to or aggravated by the pregnancy or its management, but not from accidental or incidental causes. MMR =Live birthsMaternal deaths Infant mortality rate is the number of deaths per 1,000 infants who die between birth and 1 year of age. A decrease in all three of these factors can result in population explosion.
