One child, two-child poems are brought forward to
(a)Increase in population size
(b)Decrease population size
(c)Increase literacy rate
(d)None of the above
Solution
The one-child policy was part of a program for birth planning intended to regulate the size of the People's Republic of China's rapidly increasing population. Unlike most other countries' family planning plans, which concentrate on offering contraception options to help women have the number of kids they want, it has put a cap on the number of births parents may have, making it the most drastic example of population planning in the world.
Complete answer:
Context- The One-Child Policy culminated in China's imbalance of the sex ratio at birth (SRB). After that, the Two-Child Policy was implemented at three levels and eventually liberalized. If both the husband and wife of one couple were their parents' only child, they were allowed to have two BTCP kids. They were permitted to have two children in politics (OTCP) if only one of them was the only child. Every couple had two children under the Universal Two-Child Policy (UTCP). The goal of this study was to explore the evolving pattern of SRB at the stage of the Two-Child Policy, to examine the effect of population policy on SRB in terms of maternal age, mode of delivery, parity, maternal education, hospital delivery, and to identify which factors have a greater impact on the SRB.
Methodology- The study data came from the Maternal Near Miss Surveillance System of Hebei Province, covering parents delivered in 22 hospitals from January 1, 2013, to December 31, 2017, at 28 weeks of gestation or more. At different policy points, we compared the SRB, analyzing the relationship between the SRB and population policy through logistic regression analysis.
So, the correct answer is ‘decrease the population size’.
Note: With the progressive liberalization of the Two-Child Policy in China, the SRB has decreased to normal levels. The key factors of impact on the decrease of the SRB are advanced maternal age, cesarean delivery, multiparous women, middle-level schooling, rural hospital.
